Google requires verification to confirm that you are the actual owner or manager of a business before your listing goes live. The available verification methods depend on your business type, location, and account history.
Postcard verification is the most common method. Google mails a postcard with a verification code to your business address. This typically takes five to fourteen days. Once you receive it, enter the code in your Business Profile to complete verification.
Phone verification is available for some businesses. Google calls or texts a code to your business phone number, which you enter immediately. This completes in minutes rather than days.
Email verification works similarly to phone verification but sends the code to your business email address. Video verification requires recording a short video that shows your business location, signage, and surroundings to confirm the business exists at the stated address.
For multi-location brands verifying large numbers of dealer listings, Google offers bulk verification for businesses with ten or more locations. This requires submitting a verification request through the Business Profile Manager rather than verifying each listing individually, which significantly reduces the time required.
