The Google Local Pack, sometimes called the Map Pack or the Three-Pack, is the block of three business listings accompanied by a map that appears prominently near the top of Google search results when someone searches for a local business or service.
When someone searches “sanitaryware dealer in Chennai” or “electrical fittings near me,” the Local Pack typically appears before the organic website results. It shows three businesses with their star ratings, address, and a brief description. Customers can click to see the full Business Profile, call the business, get directions, or visit the website from the Local Pack directly.
The Local Pack receives a disproportionate share of clicks on local search pages, significantly more than the organic website results below it. Appearing in the Local Pack is therefore the highest-value local SEO goal for businesses with physical locations.
Google selects the three Local Pack listings based on relevance to the search query, the distance of each listing from the searcher, and the prominence of each listing as determined by reviews, Business Profile completeness, and other signals. The three listings shown can change based on where the searcher is located, meaning the Local Pack for “sanitaryware dealer” shows different results depending on whether the searcher is in Bangalore or Mumbai.
