How do I get more positive reviews for my business?

The most reliable way to get more positive reviews is to ask for them at the right moment from the right customers. Most customers who have had a good experience will leave a review if asked directly and if the process is simple. Most do not leave reviews spontaneously, not because they are unwilling but because they do not think to do it without a prompt.

The right moment is immediately after a positive interaction, such as when a customer completes a purchase and expresses satisfaction, or when a service issue is resolved successfully. The further from the positive experience the request comes, the lower the conversion rate.

Make the process as simple as possible. Create a short link directly to your Google review page and share it via WhatsApp, SMS, or a QR code on a receipt or business card. Every extra step between the customer’s intention and the completed review reduces the likelihood they will follow through.

Train staff who interact with customers to ask for reviews as a natural part of their post-transaction conversation rather than as an awkward add-on. A verbal ask combined with a link to make it easy is more effective than a link alone.

Never offer incentives for reviews. Google’s policies prohibit incentivised reviews, and businesses caught doing this risk having reviews removed or their listing penalised.
